In conclusion let us understand that complete success lies in following and emulating every aspect of the blessed lifestyle of our beloved Nabi Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. The Sahaba Radhiallahu anhum understood this. Therefore their emulation knew no bounds. The eating, drinking, sleeping and dressing of Nabi Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam became theirs. Let us also follow in their footsteps. May Allah Ta’âla grant the entire Ummat the ability to revive all the Sunnah practices of Nabi Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Hadhrat Abu Yazeed al-Bistaami (r.a.) said:
"For thirty years I made exertions (Mujahidaat - for the purification of self) but I found no exertion greater than that of gaining and acting upon Knowledge. And "Acting upon knowledge" (ittiba' ul 'ilm) is the name of acting upon only the Sunnah"

The idea of following the Prophets example in every way has to pit falls. The first pitfall is that the Prophets actions and sayings are a result of the time and circumstances in which he lived. We need to as Muslims be able to adapt his teachings to our time and our situations. So we can not simply dispense with proper interpretation of the hadith. Secondly and probably more importantly the hadith can not be taken as without flaw. The books of hadith contain examples of hadith that seem to contradict the Quran or even another hadith. The Quran is the only book Allah has garunteed to remain without error. The hadith are and have been prone to modification and corruption. So I would advise that all Muslims should examine the hadith carefully before simply accepting it as absolute truth to applied in todays world.

First of all Hadith doesn't automaticly mean Sunnah and vice versa. Of course there are weak and corrupted Ahadith, but the Ulama Ikram have done a great job over 10 hundred of years to sort them out.
If you were trying to say that Sunnah is useless, then read the quoted Qur'an ayaats at the beginning of the verse again. You said yourself the Qur'an is free from errors and itself tells us Muslims to follow Muhammad (s.a.w.) and his lifestyle.

I was not implying that the Sunnah or Hadith are useless. No I am simply stating that for to many Muslims Islam seems to be interpreted in light of the Sunnah and Hadith and not in light of what the Quran says. I have been to far to many khutbas that quote hadith almost exclusively with little or no refrence to the Quran for validation or corroboration. I think the problem I have is in a statment you made "Ulama Ikram have done a great job over 10 hundred of years to sort them out". We can not know the motivations or biases that went to the selection and substantiation these Ulama have given to certian hadith. So what I am saying is that lets not accept the word of another person (who may or may not have made mistakes) but lets look to the Quran to ensure that the Sunnah/hadith we emulate/embrace are in accordance with what Allah expects of us. My reason for cynisim is that I see in the Muslim world actions and attitudes that are justified as having a basis with Sunnah/Hadith but have no basis in the Quran. When looking closely at such action one can even find that these actions are hold overs from corupt cultural attitudes that have lingered becuase the Haith/Sunnah and the Quran were not interpreted in light of the times and circumstances of their revelation. I think what needs to happen is a fresh look at all the Hadith/Sunnah and interprations of the Quran in light of our current times. We have gained so much knowledge since those hundreds of years since the Ulama spoke. Why dont we take advantage of this knoweledge and apply it.

So, you're saying that the interpretations of Qur'an and Ahadith should be re-formed to fit the circumstances of our time right now?
I disagree, because I'm convinced that if we apply Muhammad (s.a.w.)'s Sunnah in our life just like the Sahabah Ikram and the following two generations did, then just like it meant for them success in this life and the hereafter it would be ours in both as well.
Today we are afraid of going to a job interview in sunnah or with beard, but at the same time we forget that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is the real sustainer & Raziq and that he won't give us misfortune in this world because we are trying to follow his Habib.
It's just that our Yaqeen on the orders of Allah Ta'ala and the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (s.a.w.) is so weak. May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala complete our Iman.
